American "Doughboys" arrive in Hastings, resulting in some hostility from the locals. An old friend of Milner's dies in a house fire, and a barmaid is found dead at the welcoming party for the American soldiers, with one of the Americans as a suspect.

Historical context inconsistencies

American soldier Farnetti, refers to training at Fort Benning, Virginia. Fort Benning is in Georgia, not Virginia.

"Bad Blood"

Guests: Kenneth Colley, Roy Marsden, Philip Franks, Gawn Grainger
A biological warfare experiment with Anthrax goes horribly wrong and Sam is asked to marry.

Historical context inconsistencies

Sam is administered streptomycin in 1942, even though it was not discovered until the following year - and was not available for medical use until later. Also, the entire episode seems to bear a strong resemblance to the testing of Anthrax by the British military on the island of Gruinard.
